MENTAL CARE
please note that most of these recommendations have come from friends and fellow care workers. I will indicate personal recommendations with an asterisk.
RECOMMENDED CARE WORKERS:
RECOMMENDED COUNSELING GROUPS:
has a bunch of different therapists- most do sliding scale and all (I believe) are queer
has interns who are very affordable (starting at $30) and associate licensed counselors who usually have sliding scale as low as $70. GPCG was founded by someone who used to work at heartwork
Heartwork Counseling Center in Inman Park
sliding scale
$60 one-time membership fee
$30 - $80 sliding scale visits
Really strongly recommend Open Path Collective which has just opened up membership division to connect folks with sliding scale somatics/body work/PT/Acupuncture providers.
INPATIENT CARE:
For inpatient, there aren't really great options that I'd super recommend, but for stabilization or inpatient- peachford and ridgeview both take lots of insurance types. I think anchor is decent for a psych hospital but I don't personally know anyone who has gone there..
If they don't fully need inpatient but could benefit from php/iop Burman comes highly recommended and also takes a lot of insurance
great resource for people with no insurance who *are not* suicidal
can stay 7 days out of each month
there's a respite center where people can stay for up to a week to get away from whatever triggers/environment they're experiencing that might be causing anxiety/depression and there are a bunch of groups they can attend throughout the day. Offer $70 toward groceries for a week stay.
CRISIS:
de-institutionalized care for suicidality resource list compiled by me

have heard varying things about this one re internal processes but they have a discord which is amazing
has a suicide peer support group that meets via Zoom on Wednesdays.
